Stage 2 - the longest stage

62kms and 4280m of cumulative ascent.
A really tough stage for the runners, as they were hit with tempatures in the low to mid 30s with very little to no cloud cover. The first 10km was an aggressive uphill climb with an ascent of nearly 700m.
Myself and the Media crew (the excellence of LEAD Adventures) headed up early to PC2 to capture the leaders. Roiny Villegas (CRC/ELMEC) was leading, closely followed by Damon Goerke of Australia. Chris Barth had fallen behind the leaders as Steve Bremner was closing in.
I luckily got to run a lot of the Afternoon… YEs, you heard me : ) RUN. The best part of day two is by far running along all the wind turbines, nearly 10kms of super high winds, beautiful scenery and endless rolling green hills. I spent a few hours, running back and forth from runner to aid station, encouraging and motivating. I shot a quick video of the wind turbine trail… however i dont have a strong enough connection to upload it or i still lack the skill to figure out how to... here are the leaders in the Expedition category.

1. Damon Goerke - Australia - 6:17:49
2. Roiny Villegas - Costa Rica/Equipo Elmec - 6:26:09
3. Christ Barth - Canadá - 7:54:53
