TOur de vANCouver

i have an 8 hour timeslot, i need to fit in a rUN. yoU COUld call it work, as i at times do, i like work, like running UltraMarathons, its comfortable (and hard) to be running a part-time job a week, thats running between 18-28 hours easy (pain-free of course). So today, I need hiLLS (some flats), i need elements (heat, wind..) and i need time on my feet to really simulate what i may face during my upcoming UM (ultramarathon).
If i am tiREd, if i am soRE… GOod! I always try to mimic how uncomfortable it is to work under such condition. It's also a way to mentally train my mind to push when it's weak or tired. There's so much mental strength needed to run an UM. If you ask me..'i've run a 50k, do you think i could run a 100mile?'.. yOU got your answer right there, you cant think you can, you have to know you can, you have to feel it in your heart, be willing and open to push that hard. I say that because, 20hrs into a run (heck 10hrs) you seriously always question yourself, you doubt yourself, your worth, your will… and you need that mental strength to remind yOU of who you are and why it's so important for you to accomplish this… what meaning does the 100mile have other then athletic distinction. What demons do you run from, what changes do you run to…

back to my 8hr slot. So.. id like to rUN.. 'where shall i go?'
hiLLS… 'Right, i need those'. I decide i should go climb our infamous death hill 'the Grind', why not… all the tourists do :) it took me 52mins after a +2hr run through the city to get there, according to Grouse Grind standards, i'm not very fit, 45mins is fit, 35 is elite…lol.. oh well, i can keep going forever, thats my strength. Then i descend the BCMC ( a parallel trail to the grind), run pass the Capilano river, dip my legs and rUN home, 8.5hrs later im finally home... that was fun :) Wasatch is now only a week away.
